You know you want to Elope in Sedona, but not sure where to look? Let’s take a look at the most popular spots. Keep in mind these are not the ONLY locations to choose from, merely the most highlighted. Sedona is a playground of red rocks that light up at sunrise and sunset, ya just have to look closely or maybe even be willing to dive a little deeper. It’s amazing the locations you can get to on foot, bike or 4×4.
This place is gorgeous. Massive red rock faces with a short yet gnarly hike. It’s popular for a reason, for sure. It’s a spot where you really get that “ahh, that’s the shot” moment. The one you wanna hang on the wall or show your friends and family. For real though, there is now a shuttle in place from Thursday-Sunday for a reason; it is one of the most sought after locations in Sedona and has a crowd to show for it.

This has become a popular location because it has views of the back side of Cathedral Rock, but is also a very easy walk from the parking area. You can usually pair this well with portraits at the nearby Crescent Moon Ranch for a small entrance fee. Keep in mind if you wanted to have your ceremony at Crescent Moon Ranch you would need to apply for a permit!

This has a distant view of Cathedral Rock as well! Like Slickrock, there is a lot of space to spread out from others enjoying the area. It is a popular trail with a popular parking area. Thankfully, the lot turns over fairly quickly if you are patient! This spot is an easy hike with great sunset views.
There is a reason sunset is the most coveted time for a Sedona elopement. As the sun begins to dip toward the horizon, the iron oxide in the stone catches the light, causing the entire landscape to ‘fire up’ with a deep, vibrant orange and red glow – a whole new meaning to “golden hour.” This last light of the day doesn’t just provide stunning backdrops; it wraps you in a soft, warm light that is incredibly flattering for portraits. Whether you are standing on the edge of Secret Slickrock or looking up at the spires of Cathedral Rock, witnessing the rocks transform under the desert sun is a beautiful experience you’ll never forget.

When eloping in the desert, it is so important to protect the fragile landscape we love. The most critical rule in Sedona is to stay on established trails and durable surfaces like the slickrock itself. Much of the soil here and all long the desert floor is ‘cryptobiotic’—a living crust that takes decades to grow and is easily destroyed by a single footprint. By following Leave No Trace principles—like packing out all trash (including flower petals!) and respecting wildlife—we ensure these iconic spots like cathedral rock (a high traffic trail) remain open and beautiful for years to come.
